A Blogger’s Secrets to Staying Healthy & Happy

The following is a guest post by Cassidy Wendell, a Montana-based wellness blogger. You can find Cassidy’s blog at https://wellnessrookie.com/

I’m Cass, and I’m a 27 year-old blogger living in beautiful Bozeman, Montana. If we’ve met over on The Wellness Rookie, it’s nice to see you again! If not, let me give you a little bit more about me…

I’m a wellness blogger, online educator, social media strategist, micro-influencer, event planner, sweat enthusiast, chips and salsa connoisseur, and self-dubbed “wellness rookie.” In other words, I’m a variety freak with no sign of narrowing things down.

You see, variety is what makes me tick, it’s what sets my soul on fire, and it definitely makes me feel really (really) happy. But, it wasn’t always that way.

When I first started my blog nearly 4 years ago, everyone around me was telling me to find a niche, get specific, and “stay in my lane” or else I would get lost in the noise.

So I did. And, let me tell you, it didn’t work.

In my experience, limiting yourself to one area of focus inhibits you from fully expressing your individuality. The different things you’re interested in are what make you unique so why hide behind just one?

Take fitness for example. By sticking to just one workout, you won’t see your body change after a certain period of time, you could become extremely bored, and certain muscle groups could risk overuse injuries. Therefore, it’s in your favor to add variety to your workout routine and become that well-rounded, healthy human being you were always meant to be.

It’s even true with Kombucha. If you didn’t incorporate different flavors in the mix, how in heck could you have ever found your undying love for the Cayenne Cleanse? Wait, is that just me?

Next, let’s look at business. Say you only worked with one type of client for the rest of your days. In doing so, you’d lose a significant amount of income, you wouldn’t be broadening your skillset, and you’d be missing out on some incredible and loyal customers.

As you can see, variety can play an important part in your overall health and happiness. So how do you start adding in variety to your daily life? Well, I’ve rounded out 4 ways you can start incorporating variety into your routine and start discovering more things that make you healthy and happy.

  1. Don’t be afraid to try.

How can you add more things into the mix if you don’t try them first? New foods, the latest workouts, or online courses are a great place to start switching things up. If you’re afraid of trying something new, try recruiting a friend or a family member to do it with you. This will help you create new experiences, deepen existing relationships, and maybe even discover a new skill.

  1. Avoid the labels.

Labeling yourself immediately restricts your mindset around what you are capable of. If you avoid the labels, you open up your mind to new possibilities and start to really believe in yourself by removing the constraints. Remember, anything is possible.

  1. Do You

There are a lot of people in this world that are doing really cool things. Instead of looking at other people and trying to mimic what they’re doing, stick to what you’re interested in. Comparison really is the thief of joy so focus on yourself and what makes you unique.

  1. Listen To Your Intuition

Your intuition is one of the most powerful tools you have. If you try something new and it doesn’t resonate with you, it’s completely okay to throw it to the side. Just because you try something doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it. Be authentic in your efforts and evaluate how it makes you feel.

As you can see, variety can help you discover a happier and healthier lifestyle if you let it. By trying new things, avoid labeling yourself, and just owning what brings you joy; variety will soon become your new way best friend.
