The Season of Giving with The Garden School Foundation

As champions of real food, we know that our role in the real food movement must extend beyond kombucha. With over 13 million American kids living in food insecure households, and over 25 million Americans lacking access to a sufficient grocery store, we believe that companies like us here at Health-Ade have an opportunity to make a real difference.

For the last year, we’ve been supporting the Garden School Foundation, an organization that teaches nutrition, cooking, gardening and environmental stewardship to students at underserved schools around Los Angeles. All the curriculum is taught in outdoor living classrooms (aka gardens!) where children can explore, interact with nature, and experience the positive energy and peace that comes with being in a safe green space.

During bi-weekly garden classes, students who may have limited exposure to fresh, healthy food get to plant carrots, harvest pomegranates, discover bugs, build compost piles, make smoothies, and more.

Health-Ade has been supporting the Garden School Foundation’s programs by providing cash donations, delivering organic waste (juice pulp, tea, SCOBY) and cardboard from our facility for school compost programs and sheet mulching, and by getting our hands dirty in garden projects!

We’ve also brought friends and media to the garden, to help share the great work GSF is doing.

As the holiday season approaches, we are reminded of how lucky we are to partner with such an amazing foundation that is so clearly increasing access and exposure to real food.
