From taking bi-weekly yoga classes to eating a recommended portion of greens, we all do our best to feel good. One part of staying healthy depends on your immune system.

Many parts of your daily routine can positively impact your immune system. You may have your workout routine or self-care routine down, but have you ever thought about your gut health routine?

You’ve got an entire world of bacteria in your gut. Around 100 trillion microorganisms call your gut home. Your gut does a lot more than just digest — it can strengthen immunity, affect your energy and have a big impact on your mood.

Keep reading to learn why gut health is important for maintaining overall health. Plus, steps you can take towards a happy gut!

Immune System 101

Your immune system is home to cells, tissues, and organs that all work together to ward off unwelcome invaders. These toxins, viruses, and damaging substances are known as antigens

When your body finds “alien cells” that differ from your body’s cells, it will trigger an immune response. It begins to attack anything that could potentially be of harm. During this immune response, your body will produce antibodies, which are proteins that attack all unwelcome invaders.

Your immune system can remember specific antigens, so if they resurface, your body can quickly send out antibodies to destroy the antigens before you get sick.

What Causes Infections?

When unwelcome invaders multiply, it causes an infection. If you’ve ever gotten sick (and who hasn’t?), you’ve experienced this invasion. Infections, while sometimes inevitable, happen more frequently with a weaker immune system.

A huge portion of your immune system is in your gut, which means there is a lot of interaction between the body’s defense system and the bacteria in your gut.

Why Is Gut Health Important?

Your native bacteria and immune cells have known each other since you were born! The trillions of bacteria in your gut are just microns away from immune cells. This creates a strong relationship between gut health and immunity.

A strong gut is a diverse gut. Exposing your body to diverse bacteria can create resilience and stability for your immune system. You can do this simply with what you eat. Feeding your gut a variety of wholesome foods can expand and diversify your gut microbiome.

Probiotics are widely known to improve gut health and enhance digestion. Like all other fermented foods, the benefits of drinking kombucha stem from its probiotics.

Give Your Gut Some Love

With four simple ingredients (a kombucha culture, black tea and/or green tea, sugar, and water) and ample time to ferment, the process of fermenting sweet tea into kombucha creates an environment flourishing with probiotics, antioxidants, and detoxifying acids!

Also known as the “tea of immortality,” this fermented tea has earned its name since its beginning 2,000 years ago in Southeast Asia. Kombucha’s health benefits lie in the fact that it is a “culture cocktail” filled with live probiotics.

Reaping Kombucha Benefits

When choosing the best kombucha for immune system support, be aware that ingredients matter. How your kombucha tea is made can impact what’s inside the bottle.

Choosing an organic kombucha ensures that your kombucha is not only packed full of those immune-boosting probiotics, but it's also free of the toxic, persistent pesticides often used in agricultural production. Organic kombucha also ensures that the ingredients were farmed and produced in a way that preserves the land, farmers, farmworkers, water supply, and soil — since organic agriculture tends to whole ecosystems.

A high-quality kombucha, like Health-Ade, will use all organic ingredients to flavor and create the kombucha.

The ingredients added to Health-Ade aren’t just for flavor– they leverage bold and nutritious properties that support the whole body.
