Beets are one of my favorite foods.
They are a great source of essential vitamins, minerals and fiber. They aid digestive health by keeping your bowel movements regular.
They are also thought to enhance athletic performance by boosting the amount of oxygen your body uses and by improving the length of time your body takes to exhaust the oxygen supply. Try consuming a beet-infused drink within 2-3 hours of your workout.
Here are some of my go-to beet-flavored foods and drinks:
Health-Ade’s Beet-Lime Kombucha
I love how refreshing this new Health-Ade flavor is! The beet taste isn’t overpowering and goes perfectly well with the lime. It’s a wonderful palate cleanser and tastes great alone or mixed with a splash of alcohol and a generous amount of ice cubes.
ITHACA’S Fresh Lemon Beet Hummus
I’m a huge fan of hummus and am always interested in trying new flavor profiles. This lemon beet hummus is such a delightful spin on a traditional Mediterranean dip. I love spreading this on a warm piece of sourdough toast and topping it with a poached egg for breakfast, or pairing with freshly cut vegetables to satiate my afternoon cravings.
TERRA’s Sweet & Beet Vegetable Chips
These veggie chips are a fun way to indulge in a “naughty” snack without forgoing any flavor. These chips are crispy, flavorful and always hit the spot.
Farmhouse Culture’s Fermented Ginger Beets
Fermented foods are incredibly beneficial for gut health. I love buying Farmhouse Culture’s fermented vegetables for their amazing taste and tasty brine that the beets are submerged in.
I alternate between mixing the beets into my salads or grain bowls and taking a shot of the beet brine. Nothing goes to waste!
